Doctor of osteopathy (DO)

Osteopathic medicine recognizes how all of the body's systems, particularly the bones and muscles, work together and influence each other.

In taking a "whole person" approach to health care, doctors of osteopathy not only treat medical problems, they encourage patients toward healthful lifestyles that prevent illness.

Doctors of osteopathy (DOs) function in many ways as medical doctors (MDs) do. Like MDs, DOs may be licensed to perform surgery with the appropriate training and certification.
