Cancer care

New Ulm Medical Center's Chemotherapy/Oncology Department provides outpatient care that is individually tailored and convenient for patients.

Our onsite oncologist, nurses and pharmacists work collaboratively to provide compassionate care based on the individualized needs of each patient. As a team, they strive to address the emotional, as well as the physical needs of the patient.

Our nurses are specially trained and dedicated to providing exceptional nursing care. They are sensitive to the unique needs of oncology patients and are able to answer questions about treatment and side effects. They staff also assists patients with scheduling follow-up appointments and tests and provides access to available resources.

In addition, our Oncology Department staff can provide care for patients requiring infusion therapy, such as low iron and rheumatoid arthritis.

Healing environment

The Chemotherapy/Oncology Department offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere that promotes patient comfort and supports a healing environment.

The area is furnished with a comfortable recliner and television. The Center offers a few rooms that are also equipped with beds for longer infusions or for individuals who are unable to tolerate sitting in a recliner. A VCR and DVD player are available for use by patients. A selection of videos and CDs are available to entertain or promote relaxation.
