Nutrition Services

New Ulm Medical Center’s nutrition services provides a variety of meal choices for patients to encourage good nutrition and better health. Among the services offered by the dietary department are

  • three meals a day for inpatients
  • snacks for special diets
  • nutrition education
  • dinners for shut-ins (delivering a noon meal to participants in their homes)

Dietary service also operates the cafeteria located on the third floor of the medical center. The cafeteria is open to the public daily:

6 a.m. to 11 a.m. (continental breakfast)

11 a.m. to 1 p.m. (lunch)

5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. (weekdays – supper)

5 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. (weekends – supper)


Our inpatient dietitian, Sue Schommer, is both a registered dietician and a licensed dietitian. The nutrition services supervisor is a certified dietary manager.
